St. Philip Catholic Church

More than one hundred fifty years ago, St. Philip the Apostle was designated as the patron saint for a group of Catholics who met here to pray in a small log chapel dedicated on September 12, 1847.  By 1857, St. Philip parish had grown to include about seventy families.  In 1860, using bricks made on site, a new church was completed with lumber cut from timber in the area.

Now a century and a half later, more timber from the area has been cut and made into lumber to accent another, larger church.  This church includes contemporary furnishings as well as numerous historical reminders of the rich heritage of its forefathers.  Our membership has grown to include over 700 families.  With Christ as our cornerstone, we continue the spiritual journey that began on this hill so long ago.
